Cheque The Magic Rolls In Rideau Preferred

Cheque The Magic wasted no time in establishing the lead in Thursday’s $10,500 Preferred Handicap for trotters at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and after making three left turns the speedster just as quickly found his way to victory lane.

Sent off at odds of 13-1 in the six-horse affair, Cheque The Magic marched to the lead from Post 1 for driver Ted McDonald and the pair never looked back.

The 10-year-old son of Kadabra-Cheque Lavec sped through panels of :28, :58 and 1:26.2 before using a :29.3 closing frame to win by a half-length margin over Seeyou Men in 1:56.  The odds-on favourite, Black Tie Bash, had to settle for the show dough.

McDonald trains the veteran for owners Julie Ferguson and Lloyd Stone.  It was the second win of the season and the 37th lifetime tally for the career winner of $253,325.
