Jayport Hi Class Rallies For Preferred Win

Harness racing at The Raceway at Western Fair District

Jayport Hi Class powered off the cover of Sizzlen Hot Herbie and beat that foe to the finish line in the $13,000 Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap Trot featured on Friday evening's (May 6) program at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

Trained and driven by Greg Dustin, Jayport Hi Class rallied three-wide off the final turn and out-finished Sizzlen Hot Herbie (Natasha Day) to score by three-quarters of a length in 1:58.1, returning $7.40 to win as the 5-2 second choice. The 8-5 favourite, Tymal Houdini (Travis Henry), finished 1-1/4 lengths back in third with broken equipment after leading through fractions of :28.1, :58.3 and 1:28. 

 

 

The victory was the third of the season from 14 starts for Jayport Hi Class, a five-year-old Muscle Mass-Jayport Forever gelding owned by Ted Melchers of Komoka, Ont. and Gys Versteegh of London, Ont. Lifetime, he has won 10 races and more than $85,000 in purses.
