Moosette Marches To Third Straight Open At Fraser
The winning streak is suddenly three-in-a-row and climbing for distaffer Moosette, who used her closing skills to capture Monday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Open for pacers at Fraser Downs.
Sent off as the 2-5 favourite in the six-mare affair, Moosette dropped into an early four-hole for driver Brian Campbell and held that position through first-half fractions of :26.3 and :56.4. Century Mach made a first-over bid in the third quarter of the event, with Moosette hot on her heels while racing from second over.
Century Mach took over the top and sped the field past the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4. Century Mach led the field into the stretch, but it was Moosette kicking home in :28.1 to defeat Century Mach by a half-length margin in 1:53.2. Western Summit tagged along to grab third prize.
