Five Straight Scores For Oney Hall

Oney Hall has been unstoppable in recent weeks in the Preferred ranks at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and it was more of the same in Monday’s $36,000 edition of the track’s top trot.

Despite being parked to the quarter pole in :27, Oney Hall motored away from his foes in the lane en route to a fifth straight triumph for the tandem of driver Trevor Henry and trainer Bob McIntosh.

Henry hustled his charge to the lead from an assigned Post 7 starting spot, but the pair paid a hefty price to get there. Derf Hanover parked the favourite early before taking a back seat. Oney Hall went on to slice out middle panels of :55.4 and 1:24.4 before kicking home in :27.4 to win by 2-1/2 lengths over a hard-charging Spartan General. Patriarch Hanover slid up the pylons to grab the show dough in the 1:52.3 affair.

Alan Leavitt of Lexington, KY owns the six-year-old son of Deweycheatumnhowe-On With The Show who improved his seasonal record to 5-0-2 from nine trips to the track. The 25-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings over $400,000 with the victory.
