More MacDonald Mastery At Mohawk

To say that driver James MacDonald is running up the score in the standings against his fellow reinsmen would be a gross understatement, especially on the heels of his latest six-win outburst at the Campbellville oval.

MacDonald, who hauled home hardware from last season’s O’Brien Awards for being the nation’s leading sulky sitter, grabbed another six pack of wins during Thursday evening’s 10-race card at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

His first win of the evening came in the opener with Century Invader (1:58.1). He also took down the next two dashes thanks to victories behind Better Double Flip (1:54.4) and Blue Bayou Deo (1:57.3). After a third-place finish in Race 4 he found his way right back to victory lane in Race 5 with High Flyin Jamie (1:54.1). Acapulco Sunburn’s (1:55.4) triumph in Race 7 pushed his win total to five on the card, but he wasn’t done yet. He tacked on a win in Race 8 with Unbeatable Kemp (1:56) to complete his half dozen trips to victory lane on the program.

It’s now 105 wins and counting for MacDonald in Canada this season, and that translates into purse earnings of just over $1,545,738 in purse earnings. The career winner of 2,734 races has watched his lifetime earnings total climb just over $1,545,000. MacDonald now leads Doug McNair (82 wins) and Louis-Philippe Roy (66) in the drivers’ standings at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
