Hambletonian Society Stakes Payment Reminder

The Hambletonian Society reminds horsepeople that payments are due for many of the 149 races currently administered by the Society on February 15, 2022 (postmarked by Wednesday, Feb. 16).

Payment forms are always available at https://www.hambletonian.com/formsinfo or by calling the office for fax and email options. All the forms on the website are PDF fillable. Just type in the form, print as many as you need and return the form with your payments.

Along with cheques, ACH bill pay and wire transfers, the Society accepts credit cards for stake payments, which are subject to a 3% service fee which will be added to the payment total.

The 2022 season has a few new races on the schedule: The Paul Revere Pace & The Battle of Bunker Hill Trot are two new Grand Circuit events for Three-Year-Old Colt Pacers & Trotters respectively which are to be raced this Spring at Plainridge Park Casino. The Paul Revere Pace is scheduled for Thursday, April 28 with the Battle of Bunker Hill Trot slated the following month on Monday, May 16. Both new races carry an estimated purse of $100,000.

Also in 2022 the Hambletonian Society will service a new addition to the Dayton Derby lineup with a race for Mare Trotters called the Dayton Oaks Derby. With this new race comes new changes to the Dayton Derby races with updated payment amounts, a $250,000 guaranteed purse for each race, as well as TVG points which count towards the lucrative TVG finals at the end of the year at The Meadowlands.

There will be one additional payment due for the Breeders Crown at Woodbine Mohawk Park for Open Mare Pacers and Trotters in 2022. The payment will be due on April 15  and will be for $1,500. With that added payment comes a bump in the guaranteed purse as both Breeders Crown Mare races will go for a minimum of $350,000. All other Breeders Crown races are guaranteed at $600,000.

Also of note is the “Win And You’re In” clause to the Breeders Crown in conjunction with the Jim Doherty Memorial and Peter Haughton Memorial races that take place on Hambletonian Day at The Meadowlands. With this addition, the winners of both the Doherty and Haughton Memorials, if eligible to their corresponding Breeders Crown division, will have their Breeders Crown starting fee waived. “Win and You’re In” entrants will also advance directly to the $600,000 Breeders Crown Final but will be eligible to draw for the 1 through 5 post positions, as do elimination winners. They must enter at the prescribed time as all other entrants and meet the qualifying standards as outlined in the conditions of Breeders Crown No. 36. The entry status is not transferable and only applies in the year of both events.

The Courageous Lady Filly Pace, which has been serviced by The Hambletonian Society in the past, will be re-formatted as an invitational race in 2022. The race will be handled by Northfield Park and any questions or inquiries can be directed to the race office there.

The payment schedule dates are unchanged. Current racing conditions for the races we service can be found on our website under each specified race page or on the USTA website.

In all cases only ONE cheque is ever necessary for each of the four payment periods i.e. February 15, March 15, April 15 or May 15.

As always, make sure to double check that all eligibility payments are made from month to month. Some races have one payment while others have multiple payments due over multiple months. Missing one of those payments will make your horse ineligible come the date of entry.

For convenience, eligibility lists can be emailed to nominators who request them. Eligibility lists are always available on the Hambletonian Society website.
