Showdown Looming For Last NY License

Things are beginning to heat up in the quest for the last harness racing license in the state of New York. Players currently in the race have proposed bringing a new racino to the site of the old Concord Hotel in Kiamesha Lake and Onondaga County near Syracuse

.

If either of the proposals comes to fruition, the facility would be located close to existing racinos, which has made the situation a sticking point for those already in business.

Developer Thomas Wilmot, Sr., who is behind the Onondaga County proposal, recently spoke about the issue with midhudsonnews.com.

“At some point someone, I guess, is going to make a decision between whether to give the license to our group or to the other group, and we think we have a good application and we stand on the merits,” he was quoted as saying.

Timesunion.com has also published an article on the topic. The piece includes quotes from both Wilmot and Louis Cappelli, one of the faces behind the Kiamesha Lake push.
