Meadows Introduces 50-Cent Box/Wheel Superfectas, Pick 4 With 20 Per-Cent Takeout

On Friday, March 25, the Meadows announced that effective April 1, 2011 it will introduce a 50-cent minimum wager for superfecta boxes and wheels. The track also will add a Pick 4 wager with 20 per-cent takeout and a third

superfecta for each card.

All wagering format changes have been approved by the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission.

The Meadows currently offers a $2 minimum for straight superfecta wagers — that will remain the same — and $1 minimums for superfecta boxes and wheels. Mike Jeannot, president of Meadows Racing, said the lower/box wheel minimum will enable more fans to enjoy and participate in superfectas.

“We’ve made these changes in response to customer feedback,” Jeannot said. “We worked closely with the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association in structuring our new wagering format, and we deeply appreciate their partnership.”

With the new wagering format, each live card will feature:

  • Exactas and Trifectas on each race.
  • Daily Doubles on the first two races and last two races.
  • Three Superfectas, each with the 50-cent box/wheel minimum.
  • Three Pick 3 wagers. The late Pick 3 currently offered will be dropped.
  • The Pick 4 encompassing the final four races.

The Meadows currently offers four live cards each week, with first post Monday and Tuesday at 12:55 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday cards underway at 6:55 p.m.
