Flex The Muscle Wins Dexter Cup

Receiving the perfect trip from driver Dave Miller, Flex The Muscle came from just off the pace to win the 51st edition of the $156,000 Dexter Cup by 1-1/2 lengths at Freehold Raceway on Saturday

Shaq Is Back, who was part of the three-horse Ray Schnittker-trained entry, finished second reporting home a neck before Celebrity Blue Chip. Senor Glide was a well beaten fourth after being prominent for the first three-quarters of a mile.

Flex The Muscle sat right behind Shaq Is Back through fractions of :28.3, :58.3, 1:27.2 and then Miller eased the son of Muscles Yankee to the outside entering the homestretch and won going away in 1:56:2.

The winner gave Ray Schnittker his sixth training win in Dexter Cup history and driver Dave Miller his first.

Flex The Muscle, who is owned by Schnittker, Jerry Silva and the Arden Homestead Stable, increased his bankroll to $179,395 while racking up his seventh victory lifetime.

The winner returned $2.20 to win as part of the three-ply entry, sparked an exacta of $11.40 and a trifecta of $25.80.
