Fout Tops Third Session In Lexington

Ontario-sired Fout topped Thursday’s third session of the 2021 Lexington Yearling Sale thanks to his price tag of $250,000.

Hip 460 Fout, a son of Bettors Delight , was purchased by Wallacestandardbreds Inc of Puslinch, Ont. Bred and consigned by Winbak Farm, the bay colt is the third foal out of Weeper (1:49 - $569,511).

Hip 516 Shes A Lady was a $210,000 purchase by Douglas Overhiser of Shorewood, Illinois. The Captaintreacherous filly is a full sister to Lady Midnight (1:51.4 - $71,395). The filly’s dam, My Lady Love, is a sister to speedballs American Jewel (1:48.2 - $1,840,565) and Luck Be Withyou (1:47.4 - $1,454,166). She bred and consigned by Brittany Farms.

Hip 421 Blue Lou was a $160,000 purchase by Nancy Takter of Allentown, New Jersey. The son of Sweet Lou, who was bred by Walco Farms and consigned by Kentuckiana Farms, is the first foal out of Dance Blue (1:50.2 - $313,450). The filly’s dam is a half-sister to American Mercury (1:49.3 - $839,475).

Hip 364 Morning Edition fetched a final bid of $145,000 from Douglas Overhiser of Shorewood, Illinois. The Walner colt, bred and consigned by Brittany Farms, is the third foal out of Morning Glow – a sister to Starita (1:53.3 - $307,696).

Hip 372 Snowpiercer went to John Bax of Campbellville, Ont. for $130,000. The son of Muscle Mass, bred and consigned by Hunterton Farm, is the sixth foal out of Wheely Quick – a three-quarter sister to Wheeling N Dealin (1:54 - $$913,975). The colt is a full brother to White Cheetah (1:55.1 - $139,655) and a half brother to Killer Instinct (1:55.3 - $95,894).

Total sales for the third session reached $10,169,000, and that translated into an average price of $45,806 — the highest average for a third session since the 2017 sale averaged $47,594.

The Thursday totals pushed the sale to a record for highest-ever gross with two sessions still to go. In 2021, 550 yearlings have sold for $46.6 million. The final sale total in 2019 was $46.4 million for all 762 horses.

The five-day selected sale runs through Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Fasig-Tipton Newtown Paddocks. The fourth session is slated for Friday (Oct. 8) at 7 p.m.
