Soccer Hanover Kicks To Red Shores Win

Soccer Hanover proved best of all in the featured $2,450 pacing event on a special Wednesday evening (Aug. 26) program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

Soccer Hanover and Corey MacPherson settled away last of five while Heart And Soul (Jason Hughes) led a :27 opening quarter. Soccer Hanover then rushed on the outside and was released to the lead by Heart And Soul at the :57.1 halfway point before passing three-quarters in 1:26 and closing the mile out in 1:55.4, beating Heart And Soul by over two lengths. Brandons Glory (Dale Spence) prevailed in the show photo.

Trainer Leith Waite co-owns Soccer Hanover, a six-year-old son of Dragon Again with Les and Spencer Waite.

MacPherson’s other driving wins were with Adventure Luck in 1:59.2 for Robert Williams, and Avenue Road Katie in 1:59 from the Phil Sizer barn.

Trainer Sifroi Melanson made a pair of trips to the winner’s circle on the program: Love In Paradise (David Dowling) was a front-end winner in 2:00.3, and Bouttagetlucky (Jason Hughes) had a maiden breaking victory of 2:02.4.

The evening's 10th race, won by Howmac Magic (Gilles Barrieau) in 1:58.3, featured a harness racing oddity: Fifth-place finisher Varadero Hanover (Dowling) was upended by one of his own progeny in Flowersonthebeach, who finished fourth for driver Ken Murphy.
