More Night Racing In Churchill's Future

After a three-night trial period encouraged roughly 90,000 fans to come out to the track a few months ago, Churchill Downs announced yesterday that it is taking bids to purchase permanent lights and card more night racing in

the future.

One of the crowds which gathered on a trial night was 33,481 people in size, which made it the largest crowd in Churchill Downs' modern-day era besides a Breeders' Cup or Kentucky Derby or Oaks Day.

Churchill doesn't have any night racing planned for the upcoming fall meet, but according to a report on courier-journal.com, Churchill spokesperson Liz Harris has stated that discussions with fans and horsepeople will help determine the amount on night cards for future Churchill meets.

The article did state that Harris expects there will be a 'smattering' of night cards compared to daytime programs.
