As race caller Shannon Doyle said, Brocks Fortune ($13.30) "found another way to win" on Monday night (April 1) at The Raceway at Western Fair District, lifting off cover for his third straight victory, a 5-1 upset in the featured $11,500 Preferred 2 Pace.

Away sixth in the scratch-reduced field of seven from his assigned outside post, Brocks Fortune began his ascent with five-eighths to go when Ontario newcomer Austin Sorrie angled him behind the cover of Reel (Travis Henry) nearing a :57.4 half from pacesetting favourite Adore Him (Scott Young).

Reel encroached gradually upon Adore Him's lead in the second circuit, forcing three-quarters in 1:27 before offering heavier pressure on the final turn. After stalking live cover, Brocks Fortune was poised to make his three-wide move above the eighth pole, and he surged in the final 70 yards for a going-away 1:56.2 win.

Reel finished second, 1-1/2 lengths back, while Tomitta Bayama (Marc St. Louis) rallied from last to narrowly nab the engulfed Adore Him for third.

Taylor Fritz owns and trains Brocks Fortune, a nine-year-old gelded son of Stonebridge Regal. The win was Brocks Fortune's fourth of the year after taking last week's Preferred 2 from the pocket and the 29th of his career.
