Heston Blue Chip Attracts Big Owner

It has been announced that one of the biggest owners in the Standardbred industry has bought into stallion Heston Blue Chip.

Eric Cherry, the proprietor of Let It Rides Stables and ongait.com, has bought into Heston Blue Chip, p,3,1:48 ($1,781,881), who is arguably the best-bred son of American Ideal at stud today.

Cherry, who owns a portion of former Canadian and now Delaware stallion Badlands Hanover along with Winbak Farms, will also own Heston Blue Chip with Winbak Farms.

Heston Blue Chip, the first and most successful foal of the brilliant Cams Card Shark mare Shot Togo Blue Chip, is a full brother to Sunfire Blue Chip, p,3,1:48.3f ($1,275,555), Gweneeee J p,4,1:50.1 and half brother the hotshot two-year-old Im Trigger Happy p,2,1:52.2.

“I was impressed that [Heston Blue Chip] was the champion three-year-old of perhaps the strongest crop in recent times over Sweet Lou, A Rock N Roll Dance, Pet Rock, Thinking Out Loud, Bolt The Duer, Mel Mara, Panther Hanover and State Treasurer, and was the betting favourite in the 2012 Breeders Crown over most of those opponents,” said Cherry, who currently owns 60 broodmares.

In 2018, Heston Blue Chip will stand at Winbak Farms of New York for a fee of $5,000.
