Well Said Named July Horse Of The Month

Jeffrey Snyder and Lothlorien’s (Susan Grange) Well Said added another million-dollar race victory to his growing list of accomplishments in July, which in part propelled him to his second consecutive Horse of the Month award from the U.S. Trotting Association

.

Well Said was named Horse of the Month for the second straight month. The talented son of Western Hanover, trained by Steve Elliott and driven by Ron Pierce, began July with a victory in a $50,000 elimination for the Meadowlands Pace, in which he drew clear in the late stages on the way to a 1:49.2 victory -- thus stamping himself as the favourite for the final.

The betting public made him their 2-5 choice in the $1 million Meadowlands Pace final, and they rejoiced when he steamed home six lengths in front of his nearest pursuer in a 1:47.3 mile.

The win put Well Said atop the sport’s top-10 list, and sent him west to the Meadows, where he entertained dreams of a victory in the prestigious Delvin Miller Adios. In an Adios elimination he wowed the crowd with a stellar, 1:49 all-age track record effort.

“I feel (Well Said) is the best horse I’ve ever owned,” co-owner Jeffrey Snyder said following the Meadowlands Pace final. “He’s just got such an easy way of going. The speed comes to him naturally. I’ve had some good ones, but this colt is amazing to me. We’re just thrilled about him.”

Two million-dollar wins and two USTA Horse of the Month plaques would certainly supply any owner plenty of thrills.
