Record Handle At Leamington

On the coldest day of Leamington’s 2017 meet (Sunday, October 29), a large crowd wagered a record handle of $40,818 live on track.

The Terry McDonnell Pace was a hard fought battle. Beach Terror soared to the front and stablemate Terra Cotta Lad came first up in fractions of :27.2 and :58.1, but Bulldog Tenacity had no choice but to wait patiently locked in the two hole. At the head of the lane a blanket could have covered the whole field, as driver Mark Williams found room at the rail to win by a head.

The day started with Jonathan Hahn scoring a driving daily double, as he won with St Lads Sundance and came back with Cat Four in Race 2. Hahn came back to make it hat trick with the trotting sensation Riversaway, who scored his fourth win of the meet and the 13th of his career.

William Kirkpatrick secured the training title with his win with his maiden pacer Got It Made. The four-year-old is owned by Pam Loomis of Gross Pointe, Michigan. The victory marked Kirkpatrick’s 10th win of the meet.

Leafs And Wings scored his first win of the meet, as he came back off of a layoff and circled the field for Andy Moore in 2.01.2.

Bob McIntosh trainee Bit Of Luck, a two-year-old son of Camluck, scored his fourth win of the meet in 2.01.4.

Alex Lilley found his way to the winner’s circle with recently claimed Bunkhouse Brawl, who is now owned by London resident Nikki Brellas and is trained by Gerry Weir.

Lotsa Juice went a huge mile for young driver Justin Belanger, a second-year student at St.Clair College, who scored his second win in three drives.

Whether young or old, Leamington gives horsemen a place they can come and enjoy. The passion for the sport is on display every Sunday, as full fields and large crowds fill the building.

In 2018 everyone is urged to spend one day or evening, as it may be at your local ‘B’ track. Take a good look around and see all the good work it does for its community.

The Lakeshore Horse Racing group would like to thank all participates who made 2017 such a successful meet.
