Details On 2017 Yonkers Season

Yonkers Raceway has announced that its 2017 live season is set to begin Sunday, Jan. 8, pending approval of the New York State Gaming Commission.

First post for the matinee season opener is still to be announced.

The ’17 schedule, with 238 scheduled programs, offers one year-long notable change. Tuesday matinees are gone, replaced by Tuesday evenings. They join Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (with one exception), all with first posts of 7:10 p.m.

There are also 23 Sunday matinees on the docket, with varying late morning/early afternoon post times which have yet to be confirmed. The campaign, which includes a mid-season hiatus (no racing May 29 from June 15, inclusive), will conclude on Sunday, Dec. 17.

Information (and nomination forms) regarding Yonkers’ multi-million-dollar stakes schedule will be released soon. It’s again highlighted by Yonkers International Trot Day, scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, October 14.

Yonkers’ 2016 live season will end on Sunday, December 18, with a 1 p.m. first post, after which Yonkers will go completely dark for all racing wagering until Friday, December 29, when Aqueduct will return from its Christmas down time.
