Rose Run TJ Tops Fourth Session

Rose Run TJ was the sale topper for the fourth session of the 2016 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, held on Friday, Oct. 7 at the Fasig-Tipton Pavilion in Kentucky.

Selling as Hip 419, Rose Run TJ topped the fourth session with a price tag of $97,000. Consigned by agent Spring Haven Farm, the Roll With Joe-Tropics Beachgirl colt was purchased by W.J. Donovan of Pompano Beach, Florida. He is a half-brother to stakes winner Rockin In Heaven ($522,381).

Blackberry Farm, Hip 431, was purchased for $80,000 by Emilio and Maria Rosati of Cordell Park, Nsw, Australia. Part of the Hunterton Sales Agency consignment, the Lucky Chucky filly is out of the Dream Vacation mare Resortful. Blackberry Farm's dam is a half-sister to O'Brien Award winner and broodmare Windsong Soprano ($1,279,510), whose first foal is Ontario Sires Stakes champion Tony Soprano ($396,514).

Urban Legend, Hip 446, rounded out the top three highest priced yearlings of the day at $70,000. The Diamond Creek Farm-bred filly is by Muscle Hill out of the Andover Hall mare Bedtime Story. She was purchased by the Rick Zeron Stables of Oakville, Ont.

There were 113 yearlings sold during Friday's sale for $2,884,000, producing an average price of $25,522. Last year, a total of 142 yearlings went through the sales ring during the fourth session for combined sales of $3,030,000 and an average price of $21,338.

The fifth and final portion of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale will be held on Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m.
