COOLE WINS RDC HANDICAPPING CHALLENGE

Congratulations to Robert Coole of Guelph, Ont., who was the winner in our Regional Driving Handicapping Challenge, presented by the I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club.

The challenge was to select the top two drivers from each region that will advance to the 2016 National Driving Championship (NDC) taking place at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Friday, October 14.

Here are the winners and second place finishers from the four Regional events:

► Ontario Regional – James MacDonald / Trevor Henry

► Atlantic Regional – Jason Hughes / Corey MacPherson

► Western Regional – Brandon Campbell / Jim Marino

► Quebec / Eastern Ontario Regional – Guy Gagnon / Brett MacDonald

Robert, who works as a trainer with Anthony MacDonald’s The Stable, was one of four Fan Club members who finished with 25 points so a random draw was used to determine the winner.

Robert correctly selected James MacDonald and Guy Gagnon as winners in their respective Regional events (good for 10 points each) and picked Corey MacPherson as the runner-up (5 points) in the Atlantic Regional.

“James (MacDonald) had a lot of good drives and good post positions,” said Robert. “I have watched Guy (Gagnon) since the good ol' days when he was racing at Blue Bonnets Raceway in Montreal, he has been around a long time and is a very smart driver, and Corey MacPherson is a feel-good story. He was in rough shape last year and he’s come back and done well for himself.”

Thanks to everyone who took part in the four legs of the RDC contest!
