Spring has officially arrived in southern Ontario, and that has recently come to mean a couple of things. Live harness racing on the Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit relocates to Mohawk Racetrack, and with it comes the return of Steve Condren.

Condren has informed Trot Insider that he is back from Florida and is ready to get back to business over Mohawk’s picturesque seven-eighths-mile course.

The O’Brien Award winning reinsman surely enjoyed everything Florida has to offer, but he was also getting things done down at Pompano Park, as well.

Condren headed down to Florida in early November and drove in 32 pari-mutuel contests before the calendar flipped to 2016. He then drove in another 90 from January 1 to April 5. He’s won 15 of his 90 starts this year and has hit the board on 39 occasions. Condren is sporting a seasonal UDR of .275 and has already steered his mounts to over $100,000 in purse earnings.

Condren, who is a resident of Milton, Ont. and member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, has more than 6,800 driving wins on his resume and has guided his charges to more than $114 million in his career.
