NJ Horsepeople Step Up For Fire Victims

Freehold Raceway and the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey have announced that they have raised over $6,300 to support the horsepeople that were affected by the tragic fire at Classy Lane Training Centre in early January.

The devastating fire claimed the lives of 39 Standardbred racehorses. The six trainers housed in that barn lost all of their stable equipment in the fire.

Freehold Raceway and the SBOANJ joined forces on January 18 to raise funds for the worthwhile cause.

Many of the drivers and trainers donated their percentages from Monday’s race card and sponsored races for the benefit of their fellow horsemen. Freehold Raceway and the SBOANJ made a contribution that equalled the amount the horsepeople raised.
