Driver Dies After Racing Injury

It has been reported that a harness driver has passed away after having suffering serious injuries that were sustained during a race this past weekend.

In a brief article, the BBC has reported that driver Christelle Zimmer was competing at the Chartres racetrack in France this past Saturday (June 20) when the incident occurred.

The report states that the 25-year-old was unseated during the race and had landed on her neck and back. She was attended to by medical staff and had received CPR after she had suffered a heart attack.

The BBC explained that Zimmer was airlifted to Rouen hospital. She also suffered a cerebral haemorrhage. The article cites officials from LeTrot as saying that she did not recover from her injuries.

It is sad to see someone this young lose there life. Thankfully deaths occurring during the course of a harness race are very rare. My condolences to the family and friends of Christelle Zimmer.
