Grand Slam For Rose Run Hooligan

Rose Run Hooligan stepped up to the plate again and scored a grand slam for trainer and part-owner Rene Allard in the featured $16,500 Preferred Trot at Kawartha Downs on Tuesday

.

Allard’s brother, Simon, guided the six-year-old trotter to his fourth consecutive victory in the fifth race after sending him straight to the top from post position No. 6. Rose Run Hooligan carved out early panels of :29.1 and :59.2. At that point, Logans Hero (Reg Gassien) moved first up and applied pressure through three-quarters in 1:28.2. Digging in, Rose Run Hooligan turned him down and the fan favourite trotted on to win in 1:57.3.

Brawn Seelster (Callie Rankin) closed from off the pace to finish a length back in second while Macho Lindy (Jason Brewer) finished third off a pocket trip.

Allard owns Rose Run Hooligan with Anne O’keefe of Ferryland, Nfld., and Ferme Bureau Et Fils Senc of Saint-Leonard, Que. The winner of five races this year has banked over $60,000 in 11 outings.
