Sunset Glider Tops Second Session

Sunset Glider earned the highest bid during the second session of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion on Wednesday night.

Sunset Glider, Hip 128, was purchased for $180,000 by Jimmy Takter from agent Kentuckiana Farms. The Cantab Hall filly is out of the Yankee Glide mare Highland Glider, who is a half-sister to Classic Oaks winner Godiva Hall ($818,475 - 1:53.3).

Warrawee Ruthless, the half-brother to one of the sport's fastest pacers, O'Brien Award winner Warrawee Needy ($1,125,669 - 1:46.4), garnered a final bid of $170,000. Selling as Hip 131, the Sportswriter-Great Memories colt was purchased by agent Tony Alagna from the Preferred Equine Inc. consignment.

OK Kemp, selling as Hip 105 from the Hunterton Sales Agency Inc. consignment, was purchased for $160,000. The Muscle Hill-Distaff filly went to the Let It Ride Stables Inc. She's a half-sibling to $600,000-earner The Budster (1:54).

Curious De Vie, Hip 201, also sold for $160,000 and Robert Bergh was the highest bidder. Consigned by Preferred Equine Inc., the Credit Winner colt is the first foal out of the Yankee Glide mare So You De Vie ($202,760 - 1:54.1).

Nicholas Beach, Hip 156, was also among the highest priced yearlings of the second session with a $150,000 price tag. Consigned by Preferred Equine Inc., she was purchased by the Joe Holloway Stable LLC. The Somebeachsomewhere filly is out of millionaire Atochia's full sister Michelle My Gal. Nicholas Beach is a full sister to Beach Gal ($388,020 - 1:49.3).

Hollywood Hanover, selling as Hip 202, was also purchased for a price of $150,000 by agent Richard Gutnick from consignor Hanover Shoe Farms Inc. The Cantab Hall colt is out of the Donato Hanover mare Hotentrot Hanover. His second dam is multiple stakes winner Her Culese ($354,658 - 1:53.3).

Charlie Hill, Hip 238, was another $150,000 yearling, purchased by Victor Hayter from the Hunterton Sales Agency Inc. consignment. The Kadabra colt is the first foal from the Andover Hall mare Andover The Top, who is a half-sister to O'Brien Award winners Pure Ivory ($1,442,888 - 1:53.1) and The Game Plan ($495,300 - 1:55).

A total of 157 yearlings were sold during the Wednesday night session for a total of $8,833,000, producing an average of $56,261. Last year's average price for the second session was $52,734.

The sale, which coincides with The Red Mile's Grand Circuit meet, continues on Thursday night at 7 p.m. featuring Hips 267 - 431 and runs though Saturday, October 4.
