Zeron Makes Timely Return

The shutdown at the Meadowlands Racetrack for Super Bowl weekend in New York and New Jersey is allowing one of Woodbine's top drivers from 2013 to make a return to a temporarily depleted WEG driving colony.

Six regular drivers will be on vacation for a week starting on Friday night. James MacDonald and Jenna MacDonell – daughter of driver Paul – are getting married on Saturday in Jamaica. Also attending the wedding are Billy Davis Jr., Jody Jamieson, Mike Saftic and James' brother, Anthony.

With less drivers than usual in the WEG drivers' room, and the Big M on lockdown, the timing was right for Scott Zeron to make a return. The 24-year-old is looking forward to being back in the GTA both personally and professionally.

"It's going to be great not just to see the family, and it will be nice to see everyone back at Woodbine as well."

Zeron will be back at WEG for the next five cards of harness racing, through to Saturday. Feb. 1. He currently sits sixth in the Meadowlands' drivers standings in wins and is very pleased with his start to the meet.

"After I got my first win out of the way it's been great," Zeron told Trot Insider. "Everyone's been very supportive, I predominantly get full cards and week by week I'm getting better drives as well."

The six vacationing drivers will return next Friday, January 31.

On Friday, Zeron is listed in all 12 races at Woodbine. To view entries for Friday's card, click the following link: Friday Entries - Woodbine Racetrack.
