Three-year-old trotting fillies were out in full force Thursday evening at Mohawk Racetrack as the Campbellville oval hosted six OSS Grassroots divisions on the 12-race card.

Orderingin kicked off the program with a 1:56.2 victory in her $15,000 division. The daughter of Majestic Son-Too Busy To Cook marched to the front in the backstretch and romped to an easy win by 4-1/4 lengths over Twin B Alibi. Third prize went to P C Momma Mia.

Sylvain Filion mapped out the winning trip for the 1-5 favourite, who is owned by Furious Farms, Jean Mondoux, Yvan Mondoux and Normand Mondoux. Richard Moreau conditions the four-time winner who bumped her lifetime earnings to $107,055.

Lady Bling extended her winning streak to three-in-a-row thanks to her 1:56.4 score in the second division. Driven by Scott ‘The Answer’ Young, the daughter of Striking Sahbra-Tymal Abracadabra advanced first-over and drew clear to win by 2-1/4 lengths over even-money favourite Muscle Magic. Third prize went to Bop Too The Top.

Bob Young trains the streaking sophomore for Blair and Erna Corbeil of Beaumont, AB. The filly started the year 0-for-2, but she’s now 3-for-5 this season after going unraced as a rookie. The $7,500 lifted her lifetime earnings to $31,880.

The first upset winner in Thursday’s OSS action was Warrawee Olay, who got up to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:58 at odds of 11-1. Rick Zeron, who treated the Paul Court trainee to a two-hole trip, guided the filly to the victory over Cardio Pump and Samira Hanover.

Moms Apple Pie was parked every step of the way in her division, but it didn’t stop her from notching a 1:56.4 triumph. Recently re-rigged with a set of trotting hopples by trainer Bill Budd, the daughter of Striking Sahbra-Moms Sweetie Pie edged away in the closing strides to win by three-quarters of a length over tempo-setting Lily Pad Hanover. Juliet was a bang-up third.

Sent off as the 1-2 favourite, Moms Apple Pie won for the first time this year for owner Bill Dixon of Caledon, ON. The two-time winner pushed her career earnings to $82,200 with the victory.

Swishnflick was hard used in the opening half of her division, but she dug in deep and notched a narrow win for driver Randy Waples in 1:58. The daughter of Kadabra-Village Babe prevailed by a half-length margin over Fathers Amiga, with Hetties Honey taking home third prize.

Sent off at odds of 5-2, Swishnflick picked up her first win of the year for trainer Mark Steacy. The two-time winner, who is owned by Landmark V Racing Stable, Diane Bertrand, Rick Karper and Conrad Leber, has put close to $40,000 in her bank account following the win.

The filly marched through fractions of :28, :57.2 and 1:27 before using a :29.3 closing panel to seal the deal. Alluring K was next best, with Pump Me Up finishing third.
