TO Casino Expansion On Front Street?

It has been reported that a proposed major redevelopment of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, located in the heart of downtown Toronto on Front Street, could be a possible location of an expanded gaming facility in the Greater Toronto Area.

On Saturday, July 21, the Toronto Star ran an article regarding the possible convention centre gaming location, explaining that the Oxford Properties Group has incorporated the possibility of a gaming area into its plan for site redesign.

According to the report --- which has cited a pair of independent sources with knowledge of the plans --- Oxford’s redesign of its part of the convention centre and surrounding properties would include retail, office space, condominium units and room for one floor of gambling. The article states that the expansion would see at least an aspect of the final structure ‘jut over adjacent rail lines.’

Oxford’s 2011 purchase of a piece of the convention centre gave the company control of nearly a mile of Front Street.

In regard to the expansion news, the article quoted Oxford President and CEO Blake Hutcheson as saying, “We have no comment on that right now.”

I listened to a talk show about this. The businesses around there do NOT want a casino at the convention centre..they know it will cannibilize their restaurants create worse traffic and they know people will not want to venture to that area unless they are going to the casino.

Toronto is going to sneak in a casino against the public's wishes. The mayor is a joke and is already getting a public backlash against the way he's dealing with the violence in Toronto. Might as well close Woodbine down and kiss thoroughbred racing goodbye in Ontario. Hope Mohawk can have year round harness racing.

NO COMMENT, NO COMMENT, who is Mr. Blake Hutcheson related to or who are his best friends, who has shares in Oxford???????? I do not know why an intelligent person like Mr. Hutcheson would want to invest in a convention center(CASINO)when it is knowing that CASINOS LOSE MILLIONS OF DoLLARS A YEAR in operating costs.
