Tragedy Strikes Williams Family

It has been reported that groom and Standardbred Canada member Andrew Williams of St. Joachim, Ont. has been placed under a medically-induced coma and is clinging to life in Windsor's Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital after being involved in a horrific traffic accident which claimed the lives of two of his young children.

According to an article by The Windsor Star, Williams' van, which was also occupied by his four children (Wynter, 6; Dryden, 4; Brooklyn, 3; and Jasmyn, 1) was hit by a train in Lakeshore the morning of Sunday, June 10.

The article states that Brooklyn and Wynter were killed in the accident. It also states that as of Monday evening, Dryden had undergone two surgeries and is in critical condition in the Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

Miraculously, the youngest of Andrew's daughters, Jasmyn, was released from the Met Campus of the Windsor Regional Hospital on Monday, June 11 with minor injuries.

The Ontario Provincial Police and the Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident in separate probes.

Andrew, whose father is the late horseman Dale Williams, is the nephew of Ontario Harness Horse Association representative Mark Williams.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the friends and family of Brooklyn and Wynter Williams, and wish Andrew and Dryden full and speedy recoveries.

I just got off the phone with TD Canada Trust, 380 Notre Dame St, Belle River, ON N0R 1A0, 519-728-1317. For those of you in the States, a money order is preferred, but a check will still work. Since Andrew is still in the hospital, you can make it out to “Angie Williams”. Let’s do what we can to give our prayers a tangible expression.

Our thougts are with you Mark and Teri and your intire family during this difficult time.Love Darko @ Liz

This is such a sad story, I wish the train operators would just install lights and barriers at every crossing to eliminate these accidents,my condolences to the entire Williams family and I hope for a complete recovery for
Dryden & Andrew.

I notice from the article that there are two trust funds set up for the family: one at United Communities Credit Union (Angie Provost, which is Angie’s maiden name, or Andrew Williams) and the other at TD Canada Trust (Williams family trust). My prayers are with the Williams family.
