Update On Next Generation Stakes Payments

Scioto Downs finish line

With the first of three deadlines having passed for nominations, both the two-year-old colt pace and two-year-old filly trot Next Generation events have filled, with the colt pace being oversubscribed. A lottery drawing will be held during Eldorado Scioto Downs’ opening week, on Saturday, May 11, to see who will secure each of the nine available spots for the colt pace.

Nominations are still open for the two-year-old filly pace and two-year-old colt trot, with three and two spots open, respectively. Those interested in securing a spot in either of those two divisions can make a $10,000 USD nomination by May 15. Nominators that made the April 15 deadline are guaranteed a spot in the two-year-old filly pace and two-year-old colt trot divisions. Each division is limited to nine entrants with eight spots needing purchased in order for the event to fill.

All Next Generation events, for Ohio-sired two-year-olds, will be held on Saturday, July 6. The evening card will also feature the Moni Maker and Nadia Lobell, open events for three-year-old filly trotters and pacers.

Full conditions for the Next Generation, Moni Maker and Nadia Lobell are available on the U.S. Trotting Association website at horsemen.ustrotting.com.

The 90-day 2024 Eldorado Scioto Downs race meet will open on Thursday, May 9 and conclude on Saturday, Sept. 14. Races will be held Tuesday-Saturday with special holiday cards on Memorial Day and Labour Day taking place instead of the Tuesday card that week. First post is at 5:45 p.m. each day except for Thursday, July 4, with a post of 3:15 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 13, which will have a 6:15 p.m. post, to help accommodate horsepeople attending the Ohio Selected Yearling Sale.
