Ellis Trainees Triple At Century Downs

The Travis Ellis stable was hot as Friday racing commenced at Century Downs.

Ellis trainees won three of the evening's eight races, starting with a sweep of the exactor in the second race led by the streaking 12-year-old pacer Lisplaced ($2.90), who was driven by Nathan Sobey. Ellis also won a pair of close calls as he sent out the fifth race upsetter Two To Ten ($37.40), driven by David Kelly, and seventh race winner Flying Officer ($3.30), with Mike Hennessy in the sulky.

All three winners are owned by Timothy Gordon of Spruce Grove, Alta.

Following a career-year in 2022 when he was named Top Trainer and Horseperson of the Year in Manitoba with 60 wins and more than $230,000 in purse earnings, Ellis has won 29 races already this season after spending the first three months in California, with earnings totalling $144,472.
