George Blatherwick Passes

On Monday, January 23, 2012 the standardbred industry lost George Blatherwick, a long-time owner who passed away in his 82nd year

.

George has been involved in harness racing for a number of years with Carman Hie, Hugh Wemp and Guy LaRush, just to name a few. Over the past 18 years he has been partnered with guy’s son, Pete LaRush.

“He was not just an owner. He was a devoted racing fan. George and his wife Lorraine were at the track every time they had a horse racing. Driving through rain and snow and never missing a race. He was a great man and a good friend. He will be sadly missed in the winners circle,” said LaRush.

Viewing will take place on Thursday, January 26 at the Bellville Funeral Home from 12:00 pm – 2:00 p.m. with a service to follow.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of George Blatherwick.
