Symposium Agenda Released

The agenda for the Symposium on Racing & Gaming, to be held December 5 – 8 in Tucson, Arizona has been announced by F. Douglas Reed

, Race Track Industry Program Director.

“The panel sessions reflect topics of importance not only to the racing industry in North America but participants worldwide such as racehorse ownership, internet business management, new wagering platforms, cutting-edge computer applications, drug testing and medication use and regulatory issues,” said Reed.

A highlight this year will be the real-time demonstrations of the power of QR codes and their potential uses in racing. Students from the Race Track Industry Program (RTIP) and The School of Information: Science, Technology and Arts (SISTA) collaborated in designing and creating these applications.

Once again, a number of industry organizations are participating in the event. Harness Tracks of America has scheduled its annual meeting in conjunction with the symposium and are presenting panel sessions focusing on analyzing take-out as well as social media usage by tracks.

The Turf Publicists of America will present the Mark Kaufman Workshop entitled 'Reaching and Teaching the Horseplayer of Tomorrow' as well as honouring the Big Sport of Turfdom Award winner during the December 6 luncheon.
