PASS Action At Crawford Fair

On Wednesday, August 24, the third day of racing at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Meadville, Pennsylvania featured three-year-old trotters in stakes action.

SBM Georgian Star opened the card with a victory in the PA Sire Stakes sophomore filly trot. Brian Zendt drove the winner for the Dunn Stable and trainer Boots Dunn. The winning time was 2:07.2 for the daughter of Great George Two.

The final two filly trots were won by trainer John McMullen, Jr., and driver Wilbur Yoder. First up was Red Rum Lass (by SJs Caviar), a winner in 2:06.3. Bill Kirwan owns Red Rum Lass. The other division was won by Juniata County (Chip Chip Hooray), owned by John and Michelle McMullen. The winning time was 2:08.2.

Two $5,850 splits of the PASS sophomore colt trot were next, and both divisions were captured by driver Bill Daugherty, Jr. Georgian Diablo, another son of Great George Two, scored in 2:07.2 in the first division for owner/trainer Jim Daugherty. Cadence Hall, by Chip Chip Hooray, trotted in an identical time to win the second division for owner Susan Daugherty and trainer Bill Daugherty, Jr.

In the first of two Quaker Stake trotting divisions, Girls Getaway covered the mile in 2:08.1 for driver Steve Schoeffel and trainer Terry Altmeyer. In the second division, Jolly Roger was a 2:13 winner for trainer Jason Shaw and driver Chris Shaw. It was the Shark Kosmos gelding’s first win in what was his 25th career start.

In overnight action, SJs Diva (2:10) and Going Down Town (2:13) were winners in non-winners pacing company. Going Down Town was driven by Joel Yoder, as he picked up his first career winning drive.

Action at Meadville wraps up on Thursday, with action starting at 12:30 p.m.
