Summer Position Available With Trot

Deadline Today: The Standardbred Canada Industry Communications Department, which oversees Trot Magazine and the SC website, is seeking an enthusiastic

summer student for a placement with Canada’s leading horse racing publication and website.

This position requires a hard working self-starter, with an interest in journalism, communications and/or sales. He/she should be a self starter with a strong attention to detail. Knowledge of Canadian harness racing is preferred, but not required.

Duties may include:

  • Assisting with website updating and maintenance
  • Working with spreadsheets and doing basic data entry
  • Assisting with developing potential advertising leads
  • Developing story ideas for Trot Magazine
  • Contacting writers, photographers and subjects as required
  • Helping during the magazine editing and production process
  • Basic administrative duties

Applicants require strong fundamental computer skills and should be proficient in the Windows format and products like Excel and Office. Applicants must be returning to a post secondary program in the fall of 2011 and have reliable transportation to work at SC's Mississauga head office.

Duration: Late June to early September, 2011
