Mandate To Divulge Injuries, Surgeries

"Trainers need to be more conscious of the punter. Now they will be required to report any sort of surgery, whether it be upper respiratory or even any sign of lameness or gait dysfunction

.

"Any horse, any time, if something's happened we believe the customer has the right to know.''

The above quote has come from Racing Victoria Limited chief steward Terry Bailey in an article by the Herald Sun.

The report explains how Australian stewards convened at their National Policy Conference last week. One of the resolutions which the stewards reached was that trainers will have to report all surgeries and injuries horses in their care have endured in order to be eligible to race.

The report explains that the 'principle clubs' now need to jump on board with the initiative in order to see the rules implemented as soon as possible.
