Fla. Dog Racing / Card Room Bill Advances

According to a report, on Tuesday, April 26 a bill passed through the Florida House which would see card rooms in the state be able to operate without having to host programs of live greyhound racing

.

An article on naplesnews.com explains that the bill, HB 1145, was passed by an 86-to-31 margin and that a similar bill could be up for a vote in the Florida Senate before the end of the 2011 session.

The bill's sponsor, Rep. Dana Young, was quoted as saying, “Under this bill, greyhound permit holders will be allowed to determine as a business decision, and not by government mandate, the level of live racing that they will conduct at their facilities.”
