Marietta Hall Prevails In Preferred Win Photo

Marietta Hall shot up the rail to nip pacesetter Warrawee Koine right at the wire ending her win streak in the $32,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at Woodbine Racetrack on Friday night

Marietta Hall fired off a :26.2 opening quarter but gave way to 3-5 favourite Warrawee Koine (Jody Jamieson), who was looking for her fifth straight victory at the Preferred level.

Warrawee Koine took over command down the backstretch and proceeded to the half in :55.3 and three-quarters in 1:23.2 while turning back a challenge from Pancleefandarpels (Randy Waples). However, Warrawee Koine could not get rid of her next challenger in the stretch. Marietta Hall shot up the rail to score in a career-best 1:51.1 by a nose. Warrawee Koine was second in the win photo with a rallying Apricot Brandy (Mike Saftic) just a neck back in third.

Marietta Hall paid $22.70 for upset. The seven-year-old daughter of Cambest-Mib Hanover, a full sister to millionaire pacer Cammibest, is trained by Anthony Montini for owner Albina Montini of Acton, Paul Giammichele of Burlington, William Rogers of Aurora and Big Als Stables Inc. of Woodbridge, Ont. The victory was her third in 11 seasonal starts and pushed her earnings to $48,100 for 2011. The 28-time career winner now boasts as bankroll of over $560,000.
