Watch The ORDC At Western Fair

Eight of the province’s top drivers will compete at Western Fair raceway in London, Ont. today to see who represents Ontario in the upcoming National Driving Championship

Drivers will receive points based on their finishing position in each of the eight championship races. The top two point earners will move on to compete in the National Driving Championship on Saturday, May 7 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park. They will join Atlantic Regional representatives Ken Arsenault and Gilles Barrieau, Western Regional reps Brandon Campbell and Dave Hudon, and Quebec reps Mario Charron and Sylvain LaCaille in the NDC to determine Canada’s representative for the World Driving Championship.

The championship will kick off in Race 5 (approximately 4:50 p.m. post time) and will also includes Races 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.

Drivers receive points as follows:

• 1st - 15
• 2nd - 10
• 3rd - 7
• 4th - 5
• 5th - 4
• 6th - 3
• 7th - 2
• 8th - 1

Please note that if a horse is scratched, the driver will be awarded five points. If a horse is disqualified or a horse and driver fail to complete the race, they receive one point.

The ORDC had initially been scheduled to take place March 11, but due to adverse winter weather conditions, officials with Western Fair Raceway were forced to cancel its card of live racing which was scheduled for that night.
