Time To Submit Mare Residency Applications

Applications for the 2011 New Jersey Mare Residency Program should be submitted in January

.

The deadline for the forms, which are available on sboanj.com or by contacting the Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey, is February 15, 2011.

The New Jersey Mare Residency Program, which began in 2003, promotes the breeding, boarding and racing of standardbreds in New Jersey. This program makes awards to breeders whose horses have won monies in the New Jersey Sires Stakes, including Premier and Green Acres divisions.

The breeder is recognized as the registered owner of the mare at the time of mating.

In order for a horse’s earnings to be eligible for the residency award, the mare must meet three conditions: The mare must reside in New Jersey 270 days or more in the year of conception; the mare must have been registered with the SBOANJ as a resident mare; and the mare must be bred to registered New Jersey stallion.

For more information, contact the Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey, Inc.
