Standardbred Canada is pleased to present the Xtreme Racing Series this fall in cooperation with the Ontario Harness Horse Association and several Ontario racetracks.

The series, which will feature two types of events, will take place in October and November and culminate in $20,000 Championship events for the top point earners.

The Xtreme Sprint Series for pacers aged four years old and upward (that have started in an $8,000 claiming event or less after August 31, 2010), will be one lap events with one full tier of starters. Participating tracks include Flamboro Downs, Georgian Downs, Grand River Raceway, Kawartha Downs, and Western Fair.

The Xtreme Enduro Series for trotters aged four years olds and upward (that have started in an $8,000 claiming event or less after August 31, 2010), will feature races at a distance of one-and-three-eighths-miles to one-and-a-half-miles and will feature field sizes of 14 – 18 horses depending on the track size. Tracks taking part include Flamboro, Georgian Downs and Western Fair.

“This series has been in the works for over a year,” explained Standardbred Canada Industry Marketing Manager Kathy Wade Vlaar. "It’s been a collaborative effort with the tracks and the Ontario Harness Horse Association and we are all looking forward to some really exciting racing in the series.

“The feedback we've received from customers on the different distance races at Xtreme Horsepower has been very positive and this allows us to gage whether the interest for different distances and field sizes can be sustained on a more regular basis."

The Xtreme Series will kick off the week of October 25. Georgian Downs will host the two $20,000 Championships which are scheduled for Tuesday, November 16.
