Kims Quest pulled off a minor upset on Thursday evening at Woodbine Racetrack in the final of the Blizzard Pacing Series, and the connections of the mare have to give props to driver Luc Ouellette

for a masterful drive.

Ouellette, who has a reputation for making speed with the best of them, worked out very sensible fractions for the front-stepping daughter of Royal Mattjesty-Michelles Destiny in the $60,000 affair and she took full advantage of the opportunity.

The three-year-old led her female foes through panels of :28.4 and :58.1 before turning on the jets and sprinting to the three-quarter pole in 1:26. After that :27.4 fraction was thrown down she used a :28.3 final frame to seal in a career-best clocking of 1:54.3. Kims Quest was three lengths better than runner-up The Mistress. Third prize went to Allamerican Damsel.

Mick Grant trains the three-year-old for 1187422 Ontario Inc (William MacQuarrie) of Gloucester, ON. The filly put together a 1-2-3 in eight starts last season, and tonight’s victory gives improved her 2010 record to 1-1-0 in two trips postward. The $30,000 paycheque lifted her lifetime earnings to $69,869.
