ATSS Freshmen At Northside Saturday

Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action will move to Northside Downs this Saturday (July 25), as two-year-old pacing colts and geldings will be on display.

Two 'A' divisions featuring two-year-old colts will highlight the afternoon race card. Rotten Ronnie, who is to be driven by Redmond Doucet, is the early favourite in the first division after having won his last ATSS start at Truro Raceway. The second division will see Woodmere Steeldeal in line to Marc Campbell. Woodmere Stealdeal will be trying to extend his career unbeaten streak.

The Atlantic Sires Stakes program, the first of its kind in Canada, was formed over 50 years ago to promote the Standardbred horse industry in Atlantic Canada. Today the program showcases the best young horses in the region and offers participants and spectators the finest in harness racing action.

Atlantic Sires Stakes events will take place at racetracks throughout Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island this year. Points earned in each 'A' division event will go towards securing a coveted position in the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown Championships.

First-race post time on Saturday at Northside Downs will be at 1:00 p.m.
