.

Wallis didn’t strike until the fourth race, but once he started winning nothing could stand in his way. His first trip to victory was earned via a gate-to-wire triumph with Wild West Angel in 1:56.2. He made a round trip to the winner’s circle with Betting Terror, who rallied to take her fifth race assignment in a time of 1:56.3.

Terra Cotta Bay gave Wallis the hat trick thanks to her 1:55 score in the eighth race. Wallis swept the final two races on the card with Safety Zone, who stopped the clock in 1:56.4, and Bolero Talula, who went coast-to-coast in 1:55.2.

The 2009 campaign marks the 17th consecutive season that Wallis has driven winners that have earned in excess of $1 million. He has piloted 8,854 winners over the course of his career, and his lifetime earnings sits at just over $41.6 million.
