Atlanta Remains Atop Standardbred Poll

Now two weeks removed from her mile beating the boys in the Hambletonian, Atlanta stayed on top of the Week 12 Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown Standardbred Poll.

Atlanta has not raced since her victory in the harness racing classic and still holds a sizable lead over Hannelore Hanover, who still placed second despite her third-place finish in the $141,000 Joie De Vie at Tioga Downs on Sunday, Aug. 12.

New Zealand-import Lazarus N debuted both in the United States and on the Standardbred Poll, winning the $325,000 Dan Patch Invitational at Hoosier Park on Friday, Aug. 10 and landing the sixth spot on the poll.

The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll is voted on by harness racing media representatives that cover North American Standardbred racing.

The rankings are based on the votes of harness racing media representatives on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.

The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The U.S. Harness Writers Association votes in December on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year. The Dan Patch Awards are separate from the O'Brien Awards, which recognize Canada's top Standardbreds of a given racing season.
