Choose The Ben Hur Cup ‘Wager’

This Sunday (June 24), Hippodrome 3R will host its inaugural Ben Hur Cup driver challenge, which will pit two reinsmen against each other in eight races.

What makes the challenge unique is that the two drivers will alternate selecting the horses that they will drive in each of the eight races. They must each select a different post in each race so that they will both start from Posts 1 through 8 by the end of the competition.

The two drivers are household names – not just on the Quebec harness racing circuit, not just in Canada, but in all of the industry. The champion is two-time O’Brien Award winner Sylvain Filion. The challenger is currently Canada’s leading money winner and dash winner in 2018, Louis-Philippe Roy.

The draw for post positions took place on Tuesday and the drivers have selected their horses. They will compete in Races 2 through 9 for the Ben Hur Cup. To view the draw results, click here.

Both drivers have agreed to make a ‘friendly’ wager between them on who will win the competition, but they want to hear from race fans around the world in regard to what the wager should be. Wager ideas cannot be lewd or crass or in any form of bad taste and if they are they will be tossed out.

Please head to the Hippodrome 3R Facebook Page to submit your idea on what the wager should be between Filion and Roy.

Both Filion and Roy will be at the grandstand for a meet and greet with race fans at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
