Razor-Sharp Western Joe Returns

Saturday night racing at The Meadowlands will see top pacer Western Joe go after his sixth win of the season in the seventh race $20,000 Preferred Handicap.

The son of Western Ideal has flourished since turning four and frankly speaking has dominated the top class here all winter, the latest a front end masterpiece in 1:50.4. He'll begin from the assigned outside post 7 for the meet's leading driver Jimmy Marohn, Jr, facing a formidable field of veterans that includes Rodeo Romeo, Artful Way and Bettors Edge who followed him across the line last week.

Chris Choate conditions Western Joe for owner Anthony Ruggeri of Mamaroneck, N.Y.

Off the racetrack it's a huge night with the annual Pacing for the Cure event to raise funds and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis, an afternoon NHC qualifier on thoroughbred simulcast action and a lingering fever of the good kind with the Money Machine Fever promotion.

The standard horizontal wager guarantees are in place and the Jackpot Hi-5 carryover is now in excess of $150,000.
