Multiple North American Standardbred racetracks have been forced to cancel programs of live racing over the past few weeks due to various weather and electrical issues, and another track has announced that it has been forced to cancel its scheduled card of racing for today (Tuesday, January 23).

Electrical power issues on the backside have forced the Meadows to cancel its Tuesday’s live card.

The track and its Harmar facility remain open for simulcast viewing and wagering. Live racing is expected to resume Wednesday, with first post at 1:05 p.m.

Extreme cold and inclement weather has forced many tracks to shutter live cards in recent weeks, and the recent thaw has led to more cancellations as of late.

The Meadows’ cancellation due to electrical issues has come just days after Flamboro Downs was forced to cancel its Sunday (January 21) program due to a power outage.
