Friday Cancellations Announced

Four North American racetracks have abandoned all or part their live racing plans that had been scheduled for Friday (January 5), with Monticello, the Meadowlands, and Fraser Downs all having cancelled their Friday pari-mutuel cards in their entirety.

Officials with The Raceway at Western Fair District announced that the track’s Friday qualifying session has been cancelled, although the track is still planning on going forth with its Friday pari-mutuel program. The card is scheduled to head postward with its first race at 6:55 p.m. Eastern.

Western Fair’s next qualifying session will take place next Friday (January 12) at 11 a.m.

Fraser Downs has abandoned their Friday program of racing, due to unfit track conditions. Racing is scheduled to resume in British Columbia on Sunday (January 7) at 12:45 p.m. Pacific.

Due to the excessive cold and expected wind chill temperatures, Monticello Raceway has cancelled its live racing card for Friday. Live racing at Monticello is scheduled to resume on Monday, January 8 with a 12:20 p.m. post time.

Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment has also cancelled live racing for this Friday and Saturday (January 5 and 6). Friday's qualifying session has also been abandoned. The Meadowlands and Winners Bayonne OTW remain open for simulcasting, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with live racing expected to resume on Friday, January 12 with a 6:35 p.m. post time.
