For the second consecutive Sunday, Heres The Magic ($2.80) and Ufdragons Rocket ($3.60) shared the spotlight at Rideau Carleton Raceway after winning the co-featured $6,500 Winners Over Handicap events.

In the top trotting class, Richard Simard drove 2-5 favourite Heres The Magic into the lead from post five and set fractions of :28.2, :58.1 and 1:28 before pulling away from the field to win by three and a half lengths in 1:57.1, equalling the national season's record on a five-eighths mile track. Four Starz Speed and Stephane Gendron followed from the two-hole to finish second while Me The Boss and Darrell Coville closed for third-place honours.

Owned by trainer Blake Curran and Jason Jamieson of Perth, Ont., the eight-year-old Kadabra-Blackberry Hanover gelding has hit the board in all six of his starts this year while posting wins in half of those outings. This victory was his 30th lifetime and lifted his bankroll to $416,117.

In the co-featured pacing division, 3-5 favourite Ufdragons Rocket trailed early on before rallying home off cover and persevering in a three-way finish in 1:55.2 for catch-driver Jonathan Lachance. Wildcat Cam and Gendron had won an early (:27.3) battle with Solid Performance and Guy Gagnon for the leading role (:57.2, 1:26.4), but Solid Performance came through down the stretch to edge out Wildcat Cam for second-place.

Like Heres The Magic, Ufdragons Rocket notched his 30th career victory and now has lifetime earnings totalling $306,487. The eight-year-old Dragon Again-Pacific Monterey gelding, who now has four wins out of 12 starts this year, has won his last three from the Yves Tessier stable for owner Francois Morin of Beauceville, Que.
