The Meadowlands will host a dozen live races on Saturday night (September 9) beginning at 7:15 p.m. Eastern.
Among the features are higher class conditions for pacers both male and female, and three divisions of the popular “G-Note” series, in which the top finishers return for a larger purse final next Saturday.
The sixth race is a test of young versus old as the speedy sophomore Talent Soup, a 1:48.4 winner here on July 1, takes on a gritty field of eight veterans in a conditioned pace. The American Ideal colt has battled the best of his division, making the finals of both the Meadowlands Pace and Empire Breeders Classic. Talent Soup is a Cotton and Julie Nash homebred trained by Bruce Saunders. Eric Abbatiello, who was aboard for the record mile, has the driving assignment on Saturday.
Saturday is also Battle For The Best BBQ night with local purveyors competing for hungry racing fans and cash prizes.
Live racing returns next weekend with a 7:15 p.m. post time.
